Problem with Google talk not logging off!!!

I faced a strange problem when logging into Google chat from my nokia E72 – even after logging off, I was online in gtalk! This is really a problem, because you won’t get any offline messages posted…

I tried google log off utility (it logs you off from all instances of google, where ever you are online. For eg, YouTube, blogger, gmail, gtalk etc). But even after that, I was still online.

After googling for sometime, I found that the third party applications from which I logged into google will keep my log in information for 12 hrs, if I quit the application without properly closing it. Seriously this is a bug in the application. I checked nokia blogs and found that I was not alone.

The solution is to log in to the application and then log off and wait for 12 hours (you will then be logged off from server) and uninstall the application. Then after restarting your phone, install the application and log in. The problem won’t repeat.

This worked for me. My device details are: Nokia E72, with nokia chat installed. BTW, now I am using IM+ and Palringo. Both are better than nokia chat. Palringo is the best as it allows you to run multiple gtalk IDs in the same application along with support for msn, yahoo, facebook chat and jabber!!! No annoying chat alerts and log in alerts as in IM+.

I recommend Palringo!!!
